ABOUT US

Our roots are in Florida, with palm trees, sand and surf. We have sun, rain and the occassional hurricane...a frightening phenomena that provides much needed water to this ecologically sensitive piece of real estate called paradise lying precariously 'twix the Atlantic and Gulf illuminated by fireflies, lightening bolts and year round sunshine.

Kristof Srebrakovski, composer and arranger. Kristof was born in Poland not far from the German border. His background is rooted in the traditions of great composers of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods of history. He graduated from the Conservatory in Poland with a Master's in Music Education and then moved to Boston. He studied English at Harvard and jazz piano at Berklee College of Music. Presently, he resides in central Florida with contractual show performances with the Walt Disney Company. He shared his talents with the likes of Regina Belle, Peabo Bryson, Beth Fowler, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra [original Nat King Cole Band], David Sanborn and Jim Stafford among others. He was band leader for Phil Collins Show and Disney's Animal Kingdom presentation of "Tarzan Rocks" which ran from 1999-2006.

Ideas using 'arts & crafts' with homemade material and printed cloth for backdrops, sceneries, props and staging: Maria Ballas. Maria is an Auburn Tiger by pedagogical training and is currently a kindergarten teacher providing a 'hand's-on' approach to teaching kids. Her talent is 'old school' grounded in methodologies that have been provened to work. It's goes without saying, new ideas come and go, but keeping those that have stood the test of time, showing value and worth is needed to provide measurable success in the classroom. For example, long before 'centers' became popular, Maria and a number of her colleagues were using this approach/design for years based on the teaching principles learned at Auburn University's Childcare Center back in the day, as a student, during the mid-80s. She has long believed children simply learn by doing...keeping them engaged...kids wanting to learn and parents taking their child's education and discipline seriously.

DOE/DBS Program Development Liaison, Chris Masal. Chris was once an educator in Ohio and Florida. He now has the responsibilities to coordinate and assimilate new projects and programs into Florida's schools for the Blind and Florida's public schools across the state. His creative and unique talents shows in all that he does. Being legally blind, his vision of a better future for all kids, the blind and those sighted, is uncompromising and phenomenal. He raises the bar for other states to work toward. Chris is an advisor to Aesop's Workshop.

Lyrics, Fables, and Lessons in Stone [adaptations & original storylines]: Glenn Davis, B.M.E., M.S. Over the past 27 years, Glenn has been a music educator and counselor. Many of those years were spent on the road, each weekend, playing professionally as a drummer doing jazz, country, and broadway shows for community theatre production houses. During the week, as a music educator in Florida and Alabama, he wrote plays enlisting music and choreography for public performances in the schools. After getting a master's degree in counseling and human development at TSU, he stopped his musical career and concentrated on school counseling. Over the years, he wanted to re-introduce Aesop's fables in a most unique way. These are the fables he read to his kids at bedtime. He also wanted to share his unique "Lessons in Stone" to others, finding them to be interesting storylines for all ears. During the interim, he wrote for the Walt Disney Company, Sunrise Productions and the NRA. Presently he is employed with RCES, a public school in the state of Florida where kids are hearing his adaptions on Aesop's fables.

Carol Barkin, Story Editor. Carol has been Senior Editor at various publishing houses, including Lorthrop, Lee & Shepard, Prentice-Hall Children's Books, and Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. She has written numerous books with Elizabeth James, both fiction and non-fiction.
